| The Improv CommandosSM
began in the fall of 1999 as a spin-off of the Theatre of Western Springs. Our cast
members range in age from 20s to 70s. Most of us have taken improv classes at Second City,
the Annoyance Theatre, Improv Olympics, and Comedy Sportz, in addition to occasional
workshops at TWS over the years.
Our 80-minute shows consist of about 15 to 20 improv games
similar to those seen on TV's Whose Line is it Anyway? Working with suggestions
from our audience for relationships, situations and themes, we create a fun, interactive
show. We occasionally use four-letter words and adult situations, so we ask that audiences
be at least high-school age. However, we do not rely on four-letter words to get a laugh.
We try to adhere to Second City's maxim: Play to the top of your intelligence.
